Taking a screenshot in Ubuntu is very simple. There are two very easy methods to take a screenshot in Ubuntu, and many other methods as well, but this post will cover the two easiest.
Take a Screenshot in Ubuntu: Method 1
The first and easiest method to take a screenshot in Ubuntu is to press the “Print Screen” button on your keyboard. A window will pop up with a thumbnail of the screenshot you have just made and will give you the option to copy the screenshot to your clipboard (so that you can paste it into something) or to save it as a file.
Take a Screenshot in Ubuntu: Method 2
The second easiest method to take a screenshot in Ubuntu is to use the Ubuntu application for taking screenshots. To access the screenshot program, click “Applications” in the top menu. Choose “Accessories” and then click “Take Screenshot.” This will give you three options:
- Grab the whole desktop
- Grab the current window
- Select area to grab
Select whichever option that best suites your needs to grab your screenshot. Just as in Method 1, this will open a window asking what you want to do with your screenshot: copy it to your clipboard or save it to a file.
Once you have your screenshot, you can proceed with whatever you were working on.
