My wife and I just moved. In the process something must have happened to my Xbox 360 because when I went to turn it on today, the tray was stuck. Immediately there was fear and worry. Who wants a stuck Xbox 360 tray? Not me! How will I ever play games again? And what will I do when my pre-order from Amazon shows up and I have a stuck Xbox 360 tray?
I pushed the eject button… nothing.
I pushed it again… still nothing.
I pushed and held it… yet again, no tray movement.
Thankfully, I already had my internet hooked up, so I googled the issue and found this simple solution.
If you ever get you ever find yourself with a stuck Xbox 360 tray, give this a try. It certainly worked for me.
Recurring Stuck Xbox 360 Tray
[Update] I was inspired to share this tip with you the first time my Xbox 360 tray stuck, but unfortunately that wasn’t the last time it happened. It doesn’t happen all the time, but about once a month I have to reenact the video.
I’m not sure exactly what causes this to happen, but it seems to be more common when I have the console in its upright position. Laying the console horizontally reduces your odds of the tray sticking.
I have my home entertainment system set up in such a way that keeping the Xbox horizontal all the time isn’t really feasible, so I’ll just keep using this trick each time it happens. At least until the Xbox 720 comes out.

UPDATE: This doesn’t seem to work when the Xbox is in a vertical position. It has to be lying flat as in the video.
