I picked up the Halo 4 War Games Map Pass today. Unless you purchased the Limited Edition, you’ll need this pass to access a lot of new DLC for Halo 4.
The Halo 4 War Games Map Pass includes:
- Crimson, Majestic & Castle Map Packs
- 2 in-game helmets
- An emblem
… all at a special value. For 2000 Microsoft Points (about 25 US dollars), this all can be yours.
Personally, I don’t typically purchase DLC. It doesn’t fit in with my system of getting more video games for less. But for Halo 4, I’ll make an exception.
If you are planning to get the Halo 4 DLC, grabbing this Map Pass is a good way to get it all at a discounted rate. The price of the first Map Pack has already been priced at 800 Microsoft Points (about 10 US dollars). I’d bet that the other two will also be that price, so if you get the Map Pass you will automatically get a discount of 400 Microsoft Points. Plus, you also get two helmets and an emblem.
The Crimson Map Pack is the first to be released from the Halo 4 War Games Map Pass, and is scheduled for release on December 10, 2012. This Map Pack will consist of three maps (Wreckage, Harvest, and Shatter), a new Crimson DLC Matchmaking playlist, and eight achievements. The description of this Map Pack from the official press release:
Witness the chaos of a clash of civilizations in Wreckage, with its blend of claustrophobic spaces and dangerous exposures and venture into the human colony environs of Harvest, and explore a human foray on an alien moon in Shatter.
The Majestic Map Pack is scheduled for release in February. It will include Landfall, Monolith, and Skyline maps (and probably some more achievements). The description of this Map Pack from the official press release:
Landfall’s emphasis is on infantry battles against a glittering ocean on a distant world, while Monolith exposes you to the naked vacuum of space – and the firepower of opposing teams, and Skyline’s distinctly industrial feel provides new challenges in somewhat familiar, but occasionally confined spaces.
The Castle Map Pack is scheduled for release in April. It will include Daybreak, Outcast, and Perdition maps (and again, probably some more achievements). The description of this Map Pack from the official press release:
Daybreak is set in a military facility against the backdrop of an idyllic mountain range, while Outcast plunges you into the warrens, canyons and arches of an alien edifice, and Perdition takes players into the heart of an urban sprawl, with tactical speed and situational awareness its key features.
Again, all of these Map Packs are included in the Halo 4 War Games Map Pack. But in addition to just the maps, you also get two unique in-game helmets (‘Scanner’ and ‘Strider’) and an exclusive in-game emblem (‘Falcon’).
