The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) held their annual video game conference and show just a couple weeks ago at the Los Angeles Convention center. In case you missed it, here are some of the most exciting game announcements: [Read more…]
PSN Welcome Back Program Now Live
With the PlayStation Network back on track after nearly a month of being down after being hacked, Sony is now making good on their promise of the PlayStation Network Welcome Back Program. An attempt to apologize for the down time, the program includes 2 free game downloads for PS3 (your choice of Dead Nation, inFAMOUS, Little Big Planet, Super Stardust HD, or Wipeout HD + Fury), 2 free game downloads for PSP (your choice of Little Big Planet (PSP), ModNation Racers, Pursuit Force, or Killzone Liberation), and some free usage of the PlayStation Plus service (30 days for those not already signed up or 60 free days for those who were already subscribing at the time of the hack).
The PlayStation Network Welcome Back Program will be active through July 3, giving you enough time to decide which of the freebies you want. I don’t have a PSP, but opted for inFAMOUS and Wipeout HD + Fury for PS3. Let us know which games you are getting.

L.A. Noire Rockstar Pass
So you’ve solved all the cases, unlocked all the cars, and completed all the street crimes. What more is there for a Cole Phelps wanna-be to do? Say hello to the new Rockstar Pass. [Read more…]
L.A. Noire: Case Guides and Achievement Info (in progress)
L.A. Noire, Rockstar’s most recent sandbox masterpiece, came out last Tuesday, and I have been playing it every chance I get. I have been working on Case Guides and Achievement information. So far, the Patrol Desk cases are complete, as well as the last four missions of the Arson Desk. Only some of the Achievement information is up. I plan on having the rest of the L.A. Noire Case Guides up within a week or so, and the Achievement information should be up shortly thereafter. I also hope to get a review out soon. If you haven’t got a copy for yourself yet, but sure to order your own copy of L.A. Noire.
PlayStation Network Troubles
The PlayStation Network has never been great, but this is a bit ridiculous. We are approaching a full week of the network being down with no word of an estimated time of repair. It’s so bad that some are calling it the “Great PSN Outage of 2011.” The duration of this event is certainly longer, but it still harkens back to the crisis with the system clock back in 2010, fondly dubbed the “ApocalyPS3.” For those who are at a loss without their PlayStation Network, please review these ideas written in response to that previous debacle.
I will be on Xbox Live until this blows over. The experience has always been better over there anyway. You get what you pay for. What more can you expect from a free service such as the PlayStation Network? This is nothing more than the most recent failure in a string of other embarrassing situations with the PS3, including but not limited to the glitchy trophy system, the ApocalyPS3, legal overkill, and now a complete network failure.
