After my last post on the Amazon Cloud Drive, I realized that it might not be entirely clear from my description how to download files to your EVO from the Amazon Cloud Drive. Here is how to do it.
Sign up for an Amazon Cloud Drive Account
Obviously before you can download anything from your Amazon Cloud Drive, you have to have an Amazon Cloud Drive account. If you don’t have one already, head over to Amazon to set one up. Either buy some music from Amazon, or load some music into the drive yourself to get things started.
Get the Amazon Cloud Player App
After you have an Amazon Cloud Drive account with some files in it, the next step in downloading files from your Amazon Cloud Drive to your EVO is to get the Amazon Cloud Player App from the Android Market. It appears to still be called Amazon MP3 in the market, but once you download, install, and open it, it says Amazon Cloud Player at the top.
Download to EVO
Once you have the Amazon Cloud Drive and the Amazon Cloud Player App on your EVO, you are ready to download. Fire up the app, and at the top, there are two tabs: “Cloud Drive music” and “On-device music.” At this time we are trying to download music, so choose the tab for “Cloud Drive music.” From any sub-tab under Cloud Drive music, you can press and hold any available music to open a pop-up menu. This menu will ask you what you are trying to do, and allow you download your selection.
Alternatively, in some screens of the Amazon Cloud Player App, there will be an icon of a green down arrow. Pressing this button will also allow you to download your selection.
